The aircraft weapon system training devices used at military training establishments place a considerable load on the instructor or operator who is in control of the device. Many of the tasks which are performed by the instructor or operator are repetitive and laborious. These tasks can be performed automatically by suitable programming of the computer used to control the operation of the training device. The requirements of the flight simulator part of a typical aircrew training program were prepared by reviewing current aircrew training programs and associated literature. The aircraft mission was divided into several different training areas and a recommended training approach selected from candidate approaches for each training area. (Author)
