The manual provides instructions for installing, operating, and maintaining a protective canopy on the Galis Mfg. Co. face drill. The primary function of the protective canopy is to protect the operator of the face drill against roof falls. The basic configuration comprises a structure assembly that supports four hydraulic cylinders, to which the canopy is bolted, and other components of the hydraulic system. The canopy, which is raised and lowered by the hydraulic system, has an expanded metal mesh top that prevents hazardous-size debris from falling upon the operator. Another protective feature is a spring-return, swing-down bumper for side protection.
