The paper has four parts. First the authors summarize the main features of the dynamic approach to travel demand. Secondly, they record some existing knowledge from their own and other people's work on the dynamic estimation of public transport elasticities. Thirdly, they present new results gained from a study carried out on behalf of the West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive. Finally, they draw some conclusions. Throughout, they concentrate on public transport fares elasticies.
