Mercer County's roads are generally operating at near or beyond capacity in the urban areas and at less than capacity in the rural fringes. The County serves as a major port of entry for out-of-state cars with an increasing percentage of these cars representing total traffic. The percentage of truck traffic is dropping largely due to increased use of the Turnpike. Four new designs have been established for County arterials to handle future volumes. Recommendations are made which will improve intersections and increase capacities. (Author)
