Different lifestyle groups have different attitudes towards environmental care and divergent degrees of environmental transport behavior. The community-oriented segments with high scores on the components measuring environmental consciousness, have the least car-based lifestyle. Within the individual-oriented segments the authors find people with low scores on the components measuring environmental consciousness. They have the most car-based lifestyle, and many use their car daily. To some extent they care about the environment, but believe that new-technology will solve future problems. The young individual-oriented use cars most frequently and tend to have a positive emotional relation to cars. The old individual-oriented are the greatest habitual car drives, but do not drive as often as the younger ones.
