Two laser concepts for helicopter recognition and fighting are presented. A semiconductor laser sensor in projectile-forming charges for helicopter fighting (helicopter mines) is explained; field tests demonstrate the efficiency of the sensor system. The CO2 laser radar, based on heterodyne reception has a high accuracy and a high detection probability, a simple discrimination against misleading objectives, a high resistance against active optical perturbation measures, a low detectability, and compatibility with thermal display units.
