Traffic counts of dial-telephone usage were made on two CVA's operating in the Sixth Fleet, SARATOGA and JOHN F. KENNEDY, and two in the Seventh Fleet, RANGER and CONSTELLATION. The number of calls was analyzed by day, by 2-hour periods, by ship evolution, and by distribution of telephones among switchboards. The aircraft-maintenance switchboard was found to be inadequate in at least two respects: poor maintenance record and insufficient capacity. (Author)
