This report document an oversight study of fare collection practices in the transit industry. The oversight was designed as an investigation of practices currently used in the transit industry to evaluate the impact of farebox revenue collection and control issues as related to the development and implementation of revenue fare structures, fare instruments, and fare media design. The report is a synthesis of current practices at 13 separate transit operations visited.
