The report describes the Mach number monitor installed in the 3 ft tunnel for use in setting and holding constant the test Mach number at transonic speeds. A Wheatstone bridge is employed to compare the ratio of resistance analogues of static pressure and total pressure with a four-digit target ratio. Unbalance is indicated in terms of error in mach number M. The instrument is accurate to 0.001 M over its useful range of M = 0.3 to 1.4 K also provides an electrical output which could be used for automatic control of tunnel speed. (Author)
