Recent research in travel behavior has provided many new insights into the travel needs and actions of the public. The most promising areas for additional research are the application of time and money budgets to planning, increased understanding of location theory (land use, spatial perception, accessibility measures), development of multinomial supply models, and determination of the temporal and geographic stability of demand and supply models used in transportation planning. Also recommended is additional research in data collection procedures, especially diary data and household interactions.
