The results are presented of a study conducted on a rotary-drive vibratory-output rate gyro employed to provide damping as an attitude control component of a rocket and other applications. The rate gyro has the advantage of eliminating error due to rocket acceleration etc. The function and theory of operation of the rate gyro is explained along with the experimental results of the trial production rate gyro, which agreed well with the theoretical description. These results show the rate resolution based on a unity signal-to-noise ratio.
