The report contains data on statewide deployments of Intelligent Transportation Systems (TIS) technology gathered in a survey that was conducted in the summer and fall of 2002. This survey was conducted under the direction of the Federal Highway Administration. The survey was one of five sent to state Departments of Transportationn in each of the 50 states, covering different elements of the statewide ITS infrastructure: Traffic Management, Operations and Maintenance, Crash Prevention and Safety Systems, Surface Transportation Weather Systems, and Traveler Information. These surveys were administered as part of a national ITS deployment tracking data gathering effort that involved surveys of selected metropolitan areas as well as each state.
