Mill expenditures for pulpwood in the Southeast increased almost 0.6 percent, or nearly $9 million, in 1989. Weighted average price of softwood roundwood rose $2.75 per cord to $55.75; that of hardwood rose $2.85 per cord to $40.90. Transport of pulpwood roundwood by truck increased slightly; transport by rail declined.
