A survey of the most important assignment methods is presented. It is based on literature reviewing, except for the equilibrium assignment method and it is limited to models for one traffic method with fixed demands, where the effects of congestion on the assignment result are taken into account. The two equilibrium methods treated use a monotonically increasing function linking current and resistance, and result in a unique solution where all the employed routes between origin and destination have the same resistance and the nonemployed routes have higher resistance.
