The study was performed in anticipation that examining the influence of alcohol on performance in a simulator which creates a far more realistic illustion than those used previously would produce further data regarding components of the driving task impaired by alcohol. The research was conducted in two phases. In the initial experiment 16 subjects were compared in driving skill for two testing sessions in the simulator, with and without alcohol. Subsequently, four additional sub-studies conducted based on the initial study results. (Author)
