The monograph reviews and analyzes Federal regulatory statutes and decisions affecting the pricing and furnishing of domestic interstate freight transportation provided by combining the services of two or more transport modes (rail-water, water-motor, motor-air-motor, etc.). Such an intermodal combination is called coordinated service or coordination. Two major questions are examined: (1) How has regulation affected coordination. (2) Can regulation help to promote desirable coordination. (Author)
