This report describes design and development effort for an Aircraft VHF Antenna to satisfy the conditions of Electronics Command Technical Requirement No. SCL-4733 dated 15 Mar 1966. The report presents the basic objectives of a foreshortened center-fed antenna for Aircraft VHF Communications. The antenna is being designed to have electrical characteristics similar to the AS-1729/VRC Center-fed antenna but with the overall height reduced from 10 feet to 5 feet. The primary frequency range is 30 to 76 MHZ, with the possibility of an operation frequency down to 24 MHZ. The antenna will be used on rotary and fixed-wing Army Aircraft, and will operate with radio sets, AN/ARC-44, AN/ARC-54, and AN/VRC-12 family of receiver-transmitters.
