The report presents a brief overview of the research performed at the Human Factors Division of The University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute within the last seven years. The research has dealt with the following topics: vehicle headlighting, vehicle rear lighting and signaling, legibility of traffic signs and license plates, driving-test development, stopping sight distance, drivers with disabilities, elderly drivers, driver seated position, vehicle displays and controls, windshield damage and safety, conspicuity of vehicles, epidemiology of accidents, and theoretical issues.
