This report contains the results of a study performed on the field experience of aircraft bearings. The study pertains primarily to airframe bearings with emphasis on teflon and fabroid types. Source of field experience for evaluating these bearings was Air Force 66-1 data. The data source consists of data on 2,794 aircraft, 865,493 flying hours and includes 10 different type bombers, fighters and transport aircraft. Southeast Asia field data for the B-52D and KC-135 aircraft was separated for study. Airframe bearing experience from commercial operations on Boeing aircraft was also studied to enlarge the source of experience in the teflon bearing area. Failure rate, maintenance frequency and average manhours per task were used as the criteria in studying both the military and commercial data.
