Developments in the basic philosophies and detail design parameters concerning cabin safety which may be available and acceptable from a cost and weight penalty standpoint during the next decade are discussed. The cabin furnishings and equipment fit of a hypothetical Advanced Transport, entering service in 10 years, is considered. Project planning, design and manufacturing lead times dictate that such an aircraft will employ techniques at or just beyond today's state-of-the-art.
