The primary objective of this research project is to develop a procedure for integrating a simulation package (WATSIM) with high fidelity visualization of traffic flow along the I-4 corridor in Orlando, Florida. The objective of Phase 1 of this project is to code the I-4 corridor from Kaley Avenue to Lee Road using UNITES and 3D gaming engine tool. In Phase 2, this research project attempts to evaluate the utility of the developed tool for decision-making and public hearings. Other benefits include the study of congestion/choke points and determine the effectiveness of incorporating new technologies for highway improvements such as high speed rails and other ITS deployments.
