The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has selected the Inertial Upper Stage (IUS), a launch vehicle which fits in the cargo bay of the Space Shuttle as the baseline option to carry probes to Jupiter, Venus, and the Sun. The planetary payloads and the IUS are briefly described.
