The Air Force has been sponsoring development of high resolution image sensors, such as the High Resolution Electronic Camera, to provide reconnaissance and surveillance imagery in near real time. As progress has continued, the need for a small, transportable, high performance, hard copy recorder has increased. The High Resolution Kinescope recorder has been developed to meet this need.
