The report summarizes the systematic multidisciplinary in-depth investigative study of 116 fatal motor vehicle accidents which occurred within the greater Boston area during the period of March 1, 1968 through December 15, 1972. These 116 accidents involved a total of 174 motor vehicles with a total of 342 occupants; 136 occupants lost their lives, within the first 24-hour period immediately following the accident. The pre-crash, crash and post-crash findings are analyzed for the environmental, vehicular and human factors of each of the 116 accidents.
