The aircraft crashed on the Mercedita Airport, during an attempted go-around after landing on Runway 29. The captain, copilot, and three of the 18 passengers were fatally injured. Fifteen other passengers received injuries ranging from minor to severe. The aircraft was destroyed. The National Transportation Safety Board determines that the probable cause of this accident was the presence of an unauthorized vehicle on the runway which caused the pilot to attempt a go-around after touchdown to avoid a collision. The maneuver resulted in an overrotation of the aircraft at too low an airspeed to sustain flight. (Author)
