This is the State of Tennessee's application for the Chattanooga-Nashville extension of the Southeast High Speed Rail Corridor from Atlanta, Georgia. This High Speed Rail (HSR) designation and extension would serve two fast growing states and would connect the downtown and airport areas of Atlanta, Nashville, and Chattanooga to create multiple new intermodal (plane, train, transit, highway) connections while providing a new high speed link beteeen these important cities. Of particular value, fast growing suburban areas and smaller towns such as Marietta, Georgia and Murfreesboro, Tennesee would also benefit from direct high speed rail connections to both larger cities and their hub airports. Statewide, the proposed high speed rail service would provide dramatic new mobility for residents and visitors to Tennessee and Georgia.
