This report results from a contract tasking University of Southampton as follows: The Grantee will investigate (a) optimization of the cladding- pumped Er-Yb doped fiber laser (EYDFL) for efficient pumping of Tm- doped fibers. (b) Investigation of core-pumping of Tm-doped fibers using the EYDFL developed in task a (c) design fabrication and demonstration of a high- power core-pumped multimode Tm-doped fiber laser and (d) demonstration of high- power. single-mode output from the core-pumped Tm-doped fiber laser.
