The operation of the Gorki computer center is discussed. Models are presented for calculating wages; compiling operational statistics on the availability, distribution, operation, and use of rolling stock; and calculating the fuel and power consumption of fueled and electric trains respectively. An analysis of the errors occurring in the handling of data is given. Three tables give data on all of the variables involved in railroad operation. The article also includes two figures. Figure one is a flow chart showing the relation between the railroad operation and the use of computers to solve the various problems arising in connection with this operation. Figure two shows the daily distribution of data handled by the computer center. (Author)
