The general Viking design is described. The attitude control system design is presented and flight results are given, along with a judgement of the concept. The analyses of the Viking dynamics are mentioned. The low cost satellite passed its 8 month design life and continues to acquire magnetospheric data including high-quality UV images of the auroral activity over the Northern Hemisphere.
