This executive summary provides an insight into the effects of using the Mode S data link within the Aeronautical Telecommunication Network (ATN) for transferring messages related to a foreseen Air Traffic Management (ATM) concept. The impact of all aspects with respect to transferring information over the Mode S data link within the ATN has been presented. The report shows that the Secondary Surveillance Radar (SSR) Mode S subnetwork will not be feasible for air/ground information exchanges via the ATN, with respect to the foreseen European ATM concept. Within this executive summary, a number of recommendations have been made to improve the feasibility of the SSR Mode S subnetwork within the ATN.
