The Washington Street and McBee Avenue projects are proposed multilane facilities providing service between the central business district (CBD) and the City View area of Greenville. These facilities would provide relief to anticipated high volumes of traffic and would discourage short distance use of the downtown loop. The corridors for the proposed roadways pass through areas of commercial, residential and vacant land. The construction of a roadway through this area would cause displacement of some of the area's residents. Increases in noise level and air pollution through exhaust emissions can be expected with an increase in vehicular traffic.
