The proposed project provides for deepening approximately 97 acres of Milwaukee's north outer harbor to 28 feet to promote the movement of general cargo commerce. This will allow the existing general cargo facilities to operate in a more efficient and economical manner. In conjunction with the dredging operations, a dike structure enclosing 65 acres will be built in the north outer harbor. Spoils from the dredging operation, 1,625,000 million cubic yards, would be placed within the diked area. Environmental impacts and adverse effects are discussed.
