The synthesis will be of interest to utility engineers, highway construction engineers, utility company officials, and others concerned with coordination of highway construction with utilities. Information is presented on types of highway-utility conflicts that might be encountered and on procedures used to prevent or minimize problems. Almost all highway construction or reconstruction has the potential for conflict with utilities. The report of the Transportation Research Board contains information on current practices by highway agencies and utility companies to coordinate their work to prevent or minimize conflicts.
