A computerized procedure was developed for monitoring the status of detectors and signal displays to produce estimates of traffic volumes and performance measures at a signalized intersection. The report describes the data collection process, which is accomplished by remote monitoring over telephone lines, and the analysis process which produces the operational summary. The results suggest that the procedure may be applied in a practical manner in a microcomputer based traffic control system to provide useful information which is not currently available elsewhere.
