Although the public transport network of bus, rail and coach services in Great Britain is extensive, there is at present no system of integrated travel information that enables passengers to plan journeys so as to make the best use, for their purposes, of the complete network. The work reported here assesses the potential benefits (measured by savings in community costs and by increased public transport patronage) of an integrated system of travel information which would enable passengers to determine the quickest routes from a wide range of current public transport journeys.
