The federal navigation project for Corpus Christi Ship Channel includes shallow-draft harbor facilities adjacent to the main channel at Port Aransas, Mustang Island, Nueces County, Texas. These harbor facilities are 12 feet deep and include an anchorage basin 200 feet square, a basin extension 300-400 feet wide by 900 feet long, and a short connecting channel to the main waterway, and the dredging of the proposed channel and filling of the existing connecting channel will result in short-term turbidity, siltation, and disturbance of marine organisms in the immediate project area, and insignificant amounts of benthic organisms will be covered or removed. There are no other apparent adverse environmental effects that were determined to result from improvements.
