The report presents the summary of all work performed during the life of the Program. The contents of these reports are discussed under the headings: Road friction tester development, Skid resistance surveys, Tire-pavement friction fundamentals, Pavement wetting and texture, Microtexture and skid resistance, Low-speed friction measurement. It is shown what was accomplished in implementing the twin objective of the program: (1) deepening of the knowledge of the tire-pavement friction mechanism, (2) employing this knowledge toward the development of construction and maintenance methods for pavement with improved friction characteristics.
