The El Segundo Employment Center Bus Service Demonstration, which came to be known as the BEEP (Bus Express Employee Program) demonstration, was undertaken with the goal of testing the viability of a new concept in subscription bus service for workers in a 'satellite' employment center' where regular bus service was not attracting an appreciable fraction of employees. Greater productivity than buspools or regular subscription bus service was sought through multi-trip scheduling of buses, and greater attractiveness through the use of modern, comfortable buses clearly distinguishable from regular transit buses.
