The report is a study of the attitudes of drivers toward mass transit in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Perhaps the most comprehensive of the studies was a personal interview survey of approximately 600 residents of the Twin Cities area. Also a five-county area was sampled by mail questionnaire. The survey had three primary objectives: To identify the basic motivations for driving, to examine the effectiveness of using negative factors as a means of inducing drivers to use public transportation, and to determine what positive factors could be used to attract ridership.
