The articulated vehicle combination has many advantages over the rigid truck and is being used to an ever increasing extent. The report examines the safety implications of using artics in place of rigids particularly for the carriage of hazardous materials. It is concluded that artics have a better accident rate than rigids and offer additional benefits in the field of hazmat transportation.
