The ITS architecture goals are summarized as follows: Increase operational efficiency and capacity of the transportation system; Enhance personal mobility and the convenience and comfort of the transportation system; Improve the safety of the Nation's transportation system; Reduce energy consumption and environmental costs; Enhance the present and future economic productivity of individuals, organizations and the economy as a whole; and Create an environment in which the development and deployment of ITS can flourish.
