The contractor was tasked to conduct research on the ARGO/JASON Support Systems. The work was intended to enhance the imaging capabilities of the JASON vehicle to meet full deep ocean requirements, to provide a means of transferring bottom samples to the surface from a deep sea operation, and to upgrade the precise navigation system to allow operation at depths of 20,000 feet for recovery of bottom samples.
