The primary purpose for the Bryan Drive improvements is to provide a by-pass of the central business district of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina which would relieve congested traffic conditions that exist on U.S. 17 during the peak tourist season. Adverse environmental effects would be typical to any highway facility. Noise and air pollution would result from traffic moving through this area. (Author)
