The report provides an international comparison of public transport in 43 urban areas, where Greater Oslo is the only Norwegian urban area. Where possible, the comparisons are made specific for each of the public transport modes in Oslo: bus, tram, metro and local train. The authors have compared indicators of productivity, service frequency, speed, capacity load factor, energy use, and market share. Total (all mode) public transport comparisons include price ratios of car and public transport, operating costs per vehicle-kilometer and per passenger-kilometer, subsidies, and investments. Where applicable the price levels have been adjusted according to purchasing power parties.
