In the report the arrangement of contemporary solid-propellant rocket engines, their elements and units are discussed and the characteristics and classification of engines are given. Layout diagrams of rockets with solid-propellant rocket engines are examined and the basic methods of heat shielding of engines and the possible layouts for control of thrust in magnitude and direction are set forth. The future of the development of solid-propellant engines is pounted out. The pamphlet does not deal with solid propellants and their characteristics, with which the reader will become acquainted in a special publication of the current series. (Author)
