A study was made of the performance of a typical proposed merchant ship. It is concluded, as a result of the study, that suitable research might develop a hull having 10% less drag. It is indicated that a propeller for such a ship could be built with an efficiency of at least 15% more than present propellers. The methods whereby these conclusions were reached are presented in some detail. (Author)
