In a stationary symmetrical horizontal flight of an airplane the lift force balances the weight of the airplane and the dragforce is balanced by the thrust produced by the propulsion system. For most airplane configurations the main part of the lift is produced by the wing. It follows that one of the interesting problems in aerodynamics is the design of a wing producing a given lift at the cost of the least possible drag. An adapted form of this problem is analyzed in the thesis.
