Recordings of radar information were made in ATC centres covering the areas of Europe where maximum traffic is encountered. Data collection was made to include peak periods. Traffic counts were derived from track information reconstituted from radar plots and figures were obtained for peak traffic densities. Present highest densities in Europe have been found of the order of 0.14 aircraft/NM2.
