This report documents a design model developed to facilitate the sizing of aircraft on-board fire protection systems with HFC-125, an environmentally acceptable substitute for Halon. The model was developed using empirical data from the Halon Replacement Program for Aviation and supplemented with other sources. The preliminary sizing of extinguishant containers and certification criteria, where relevant, is accomplished by the use of this model.
