The following subjects concerning Japanese space activities are presented: (1) fundamental policy and principles; (2) major objectives; (3) space activity classification; (4) space science; (5) common technologies for satellites; (6) space transportation; (7) communication and broadcasting; (8) earth observation; (9) space environment utilization, including drop experiment facilities, rockets, space shuttle and satellites, and the Space Station Freedom; and (10) information concerning the International Space Year (ISY), such as its concept and purposes, Space Agency Forum on ISY, Japan ISY Association, related organizations, publicity, and activities.
